Prescription Drug Abuse:
Prescription drug abuse is anyone using any type of medication given out by a doctor that was not prescribed to them. During the show, we find out that Spencer has a weak spot for amphetamines, and she starts slowly unraveling the more she takes. Her friends and family are worried about her and it leads towards her staying in a rehab facility for a couple of days so she can kick it. One of the most commonly abused prescription drugs is Adderall because it is a stimulant, and also pain relievers. "In the United States, there is an average of 2,000 teenagers using prescription drugs without having the guidance of a doctor every day" (teens.drugabuse). One of the biggest myths out there when it comes to this type of drug use is that it's "safer" because a doctor is prescribing it. It is untrue though because unless you are taking the right amounts, not mixing it with other medications, and living the right lifestyle, prescription drugs can harm you just as badly as any type of hard drug.
